Intro to Orcs:          Submit A Strategy
If you played WarCraft II then you know how kick ass our green ugly friends the Orcs are. Humans never stood a chance against things like bloodlust. Orcs ate sissy human characters like archers for lunch. Orcs are simply a mean ugly brute force. If you wanted to overpower your opponent you played Orcs simple as that. At one point, in the distant past, they were a noble race. In WarCraft III they are to resort back to their roots and once again bring back their noble and ancient traditions. This will not be the Orc race we all became so familiar with. There will be some definate changes to look forward to.

Orc Strategy

Orc Advantages:
The Orcs greatest power lies in their brute strentgh. Tactics and strategies for the Orc's tend to be simple to execute, yet surprisingly effective! This race is great for both the beginner and the advanced player. Their magic (especially the Farseer hero's Chain Lightning and Earthquake) is just as effective as their brute force, so utilize it whenever possible!

If your looking to overpower and dominate other races using brute force and brute magic, play Orcs. Use the Orc advantages such as Spiked Barricades, burrowing, and pillage whenever the opportunity arises. Make it hell for any enemy to come into your base as well as make a profite when you wreck the enemy base.
 - Josie McCoy

Orcs also have an advantage in both their movement and attack speed. Bloodlust ups attack speed by 25% and movement speed by 40%, and Endurance Aura can add on another 15% to attack and 30% to movement. These abilities, along with the natural speed of units like Raiders and Blademasters, allow the orcs to execute hit and run attacks. Throw in the Statis Trap ability that can cover your retreat, and you have the perfect strike then retreat force. Aside from hit and run attacks, you can use your speed advantage to quickly defend your expansions or your allies towns without teleporting. Finally, you can use your speed to catch up to a fleeing army.

Orcs also have the best natural defense, in peons along with burrows. By correctly arranging their town, Orc players can safely tech to casters, wyvrens, or taurens with no defense but hero's and burrows. Be sure to throw in Spiked Barricades if your opponent attacks with Footmen, Ghouls or Grunts.

Orc Disadvantages:
Orcs aren't meant to fly, not to say that their air units are weak, they just don't seem nearly as effective as their ground forces. Even the majority of Orc magic is meant to damage the ground, leaving the Orc army to best defend against air (when present) and stay offensive (using mostly melee units) on the ground.

Orc Heros:
Blade Master
This hero truly is the master of the blade. He is probably the best unit for assaulting enemy mining/wood units and his abilities, when used properly, make him extremely difficult to kill. The Blademaster is matched only by the Demon Hunter in combat effectivness. He has the highest Agility of any hero, starting off at 23 and getting as high as 38 (compared to the DH's 22-35).

Abilities:

-Wind Walk
This ability is best used to sneak behind enemy lines and escape enemy attackers when the Blade Master is about to die. You can destroy enemy mining/wood operations when using this ability with Bladestorm.

-Mirror Image
It is best to use Mirror Image at the begining of an attack so that your images start off with full health. Use Mirror image to escape Entangling Roots or Ensnare. Note you cannot have more than three illusions at any one time.

-Critical Strike
Critical strike is an excellent ability, at its peak level you can one shot kill many tier 1 and spellcasters. Peak this as quick as you can. If your ally has Vampiric Aura, you recover serious health when a Critical Strike occurs.

-Bladestorm (Ultimate)
Bladestorm is great for almost any combat situation, and especially good for killing ranged and mining/wood units. Most useful when attacking an enemy base because if your enemy runs away, you can use Bladestorm on buildings rather than wasting it.

Tauren Chieftain
The Chieftain is another 'difficult to kill' Orc hero who is primarily good for wearing down and stunning groups of enemy units using Shock Wave and/or War Stomp. They are also good for keeping your units 'charged up' for combat situations when they have Endurance Aura. The Chaiftain is good as a support unit and can take a lot of hits, making him a good pointman; but tends to be a 'slow killer'. If you plan to have the Chieftain take a lot of damage, be sure you have healing potion(s) to keep your hero and his aura in the field.

Abilities:

-Shock Wave
Looking to stun and damage specific units? Then you can't go wrong with Shock Wave, as long as you aim at the right unit. At its highest level, shockwave can knock over caster or ghouls half a dozen at a time.

-War Stomp
The War Stomp is one of the best Chieftain abilities to aquire and use, especially when he is the pointman for a battle against enemy groups. Note it has less range than Thunder Clap and only effects units in melee range.

-Endurance Aura
Endurance Aura is another ability for the Cheiftain which makes him a great pointman. Keep your stronger melee units near the Chieftain when going into battle with this ability.

-Reincarnation (Ultimate)
Need another reason to have the Cheiftain as your pointman? Reincarnation! Nuff said. Just remember your opponent's hero(es) get experience each time the Chieftain dies, even if he is reincarnated.

Farseer
The Farseer is one of the best magic users in the game. He also makes a great scout early in a match by using Far Sight or wolves. Try and keep him protected and make full use of his abilities whenever possible. Build up levels quickly if you want to 'Level' towns, and town defenses with Earthquake.

Abilities:

-Far Sight
This ability is great if your looking to scout out and rush an enemy base or expansion early the game. Also good discovering invisible enemy spies and retreating units.

-Chain Lightning
Great for damaging multiple enemy units who are near the original target and becomes etremely deadly at its peak level. Target spellcasters and other low HP units.

-Feral Spirit
Use Wolves to harass enemy heroes, workers, in the early game. They can also help with creeping, and in the later game become complements to your other units.

-Earthquake (Ultimate)
Use Earthquake on anything you want to damage or disrupt, preferably enemy towns and operations. Keep the Seer covered at all times while he casts Earthquake. Units with Disrupt abilities (Storm Bolt, Sleep, etc) should be kept away from the Seer.

Orc Vs. Human:
Dont even try to go air against these guys, their gyros will tear you apart (if they know how to use Humans). There really isnt too much strategy involved except for a few basic things, get Wolf Riders to Ensare any Gryphons that come your way. Go up the tech tree and always upgrade to get big bad units, such as Taurens, and go nuts. Be sure the bring in some Shamans to Bloodlust your troops and Witch Doctors to try and Statis Trap the enemy forces.

Besides that, just beat the crap out of them. Orcs can eat humans for breakfast lunch and dinner (literally). Just ask the Kodo Beast... it's Devour ability will allow it to literally EAT just about any enemy unit; be sure to give it time to digest.
 - Josie McCoy

This matchup can often become a caster duel these days, which you can win if you follow some guidelines: 1) Drop multiple wards at one time so that they are harder to destroy, 2) Have ensnare or wand of the wind handy to disrupt Blizzard 3) Use a Blademaster to counter the fragile Archmage.
 - Travis "southpaw5" Johnson

Orc Vs. Night Elf:
Night Elves and Orcs make for an interesting match up. Orcs are primarily a Melee force while Night Elves are a bit more diverse. In the early game, Huntresses have an advantage over your Tier 1 units, so be sure to defend your base with burrows and possibly towers, then move along to Tier 2 or Tier 3 quickly. Elves have trouble with Wyvrens, Taurens and/or casters. It helps to get Scrolls of Protection to mess up Dyrads Dispel (they will use all their mana dispelling Protection).
 - Travis "southpaw5" Johnson

Orc Vs. Undead:
Here are some tips for fighting the Undead Scourge: Be aware that Wyvrens will only work once against an Undead army because gargoyle are so effective as anti-air units. Orc casters are very effective against the undead. Be aware that Taurens are often lost to the Possession ability. Use Chain lightning and/or Shockwave to mow down ghouls. As always against the undead, be sure to have Dispel Wands handy in case they have Necros.
